Diwali this festival is most brightes and signified festival in Hindu culture. This festival is celebrated for four days. Diwali is Hindu festival of light which is celebrated in all over India. It signifies the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil. It celebrated during the Hindu lunisolar months of Ashvin and Kartika–around mid September and mid November. The meaning of deepawali is deep means(light), and avali means (row) . That’s why on this day people lighting diyas, and other fireworks during Diwali. 

Significance of Diwali Festival 

This festival is believed to be the ultimate victory of good over evil. On the occasion of diwali people lighting of diyas and lamps to remove all darkness and move towards the brightest future. People love to celebrate diwali with there family and friends.  

Diwali is the major Indian festival which unites the people, and feel everyone with feelings of joy and happiness.  

Besically this festival signify the happiness and harmony. On Diwali people clean their home, decorate house with diyas, lights, lamp, flower, and made rangoli.  

History of Diwali festival 

Diwali festival can be historically track  back to ancient India. This festival almost like of lighting. Many stories behind the Diwali festival which signify good over evil.  

Stories of Ramayana 

The most important stories behind the Diwali festival when Lord Ram returns to Ayodhya after completing his 14 years of exile and after defeating the demon Ravan. At the time of exile king of lanka Ravan abducted Sita. After long war and fight Lord Rama vanquished lanka and save Sita. After this victory Lord Rama come to Ayodhya with full of joyous.  

Goddess Kali story 

On Diwali in some state in India specially in bengal, this festival is denote for worship of maa kali, the dark goddess of strength and celebrated with full of joy and says that on this day goddess kali took birth to save earth from the cruel demons. After killing the demon maa kali lost there control over her wrath, and want to slaughtering everyone Who came on her way. Then Lord Shiva stop her for doing this.  

Story of Goddess Lakshmi 

On diwali Hindu people worship goddess Lakshmi because they believed her as goddess of prosperity and wealth. On this day new moon day of karthik  month started. And impress by the seen of beauty of goddess lakshmi , then lord Vishnu decided to marry her that’s why in diwali people brun diyas. This is the story behind worship goddess lakshmi on the occasion of diwali.  

Diwali date and puja vidhi 

According to the hindu calender Diwali celebrated on Amavasya (new moon) the 15th day of kartik in every year.This festival is celebrated for 5 days.  

  • On first day of Diwali celebrate Dhanteras : Dhanteras is the most joyful festival. People celebrate with wealth, prosperity, and auspicious beginning of Diwali. People can clean their home, buy gold, utensiles, and wear new clothes.  
  •  Diwali Day 2 : Celebrating the choti Diwali on Chaturdashi . On this day grand welcome of main Diwali. People decorated their home and lighting lamp, and Diya’s. 
  • Diwali day 3 : Diwali, celebrate on  Amavasya. On this day people wear new clothes, decorate their house with lighting lamp, and candles, and unite together with family and worship of Goddess lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, and distribute sweet in people.  
  • Day 4 : Goverdhan puja and Padwa,this festival is celebrate for divine intervention of lord krishna .  
  • Day 5 : Bhai Dooj ; Celebrate on Dwitiya. This day is very special for brother and sister. Sister pray for brother fir better future and life.  

Some traditions from the long period of Hindu culture, and people follow all things on the Diwali like: 

  • Diyas symbolized the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness.  
  • Rangoli – This is a pretty traditional Indian art form which brings good luck in life.  
  • Worship of Goddess Lakshmi –  because she symbolize spritual enlightenment and purity. This is the customary way to worship the Goddess Lakshmi and also celebrate on the third day of diwali. On Diwali Lakshmi Pujan is said across every Hindu household, people to Goddess to blessed with wealthy and prosperous life.  
  • Worship of Lord Ganesha –  He symbolize strength,  intelligence, and have capabilty to come back from any difficult challenge.  
  • Toran  

Mythology of Diwali festival 

Diwali this festival is besically celebrate for unity in diversity, which  help to bring together of any cast, relegion,culture of people. Now according to Hindu mythology Lord Rama which is the king of Ayodhya returne in Ayodhya after completing 14 years of exile. Raja Ram stepmother is jealous of Ram and she wanted him to leave kingdom so that her son become the king of the ayodhya and she force the Raja Dhashrath to send Lord Ram for 14 years exile in forest. After that Lord Ram and his wife Sita and brother Lakshman. They all leave in forest with several Demons, in which Ravan one of them.  

Then Lord Rama has fougth the Rakshas and demon Ravan kidnapped Lord Rama’s wife Sita, but she is cleverly left her tails of jewelry so that Ram find her easily to the island of Lanka. Then with the help of his brother and Hanuman and his army help to build up the bridge to across the island and then cross the bridge and kill Ravan to his wife. After victory over demon Ravan Lord Rama, his wife Sita and brother Lakshman came to the kingdom after 14years . So that on this day people of ayodhya clean there house , place diyas for welcome in ayodhya and to lighting their path. So that the mythology of Hindu people celebrate this traditional festival as Diwali festival.  

Conclusion 

Basically Dewali festival for true sense of unity in diversity, and bring people together inspite of religious, culture. This is the most auspicious festival seasons which making peace and prosperity. It’s believed that on Diwali Mata Lakshmi roams the earth and enter the home that’s why on Diwali people decorated there house with diya lamps and well cleaned.
